Despite a bad weather forecast the first big international race of the 2009 season took place under acceptable conditions. The organizers did a good job preparing the sandy track located in northern Italy all weekend long.

After his disastrous 2008 season former vice-worldchampion Kevin Strijbos was the strongest man of the weekend. Racing his factory 450 Honda for the first time the Belgian was in front in all three motos and never challenged.

Silver Action KTM's Jonathan Barragen was also very strong but could not keep the pace of Strijbos. Last years winner Max Nagl was fast but due to some riding errors he lost positions during the three moto event.

Best Yamaha rider was Josh Coppins with a consistent perfomrance in the deep sand but not able to keep the pace of the top riders.
