14 year old factory rider Ken Roczen beats GP regularsOne of the traditions in German MX is to start the season at Frankenbach near Heilbronn early in the year. The weather forecast was bad but on Saturday some unexpected sunshine made the conditions acceptable. The main German MX teams took the chance to roll out their bikes and riders at home for the first time. | | Dennis Schröter got the holeshot in moto one |
For the first time in many, many years a factory team is based in Germany. The Teka Suzuki Team runs the yellow RMZ250 MX2 bikes in cooperation with the Geboers MX1 headquarter in Belgium. The first outing in Germany was a full success for the team, led by Thomas Ramsbacher.
In moto one it was Xavier Boog who grabbed the lead qickly from team Silent Sports holeshot king Dennis Schröter. Boog never looked back so he couldn't see his 14 (!) year old team mate Ken Roczen moving up to second in the end. | | Ken Roczen |
Before the second moto the rain started and turned into a problem for Xavier Boog when his goggle gave up early and limited his vision. He was not able to catch up to leaders Ken Roczen who got the holeshot and rode a flawless 30min +2lap moto.
KTM's Marcus Schiffer tried his best to get by Roczen but never had a chance to set a pass for the lead. In the first moto Schiffer crashed early when trying to pass a rider and got back on his bike in dead last position. In the end he finished 8th.
KTM factory rider Max Nagl is still is still sidelined with a hand injury and made his debut as a co- race commentator at Frankenbach
