Tony Cairoli - 1st: “For sure I enjoyed racing here in the sand at Lierop. I have lots of good memories of here. This is where I won the championship last year and now I win the GP. I won the title in Brazil but I didn’t get to celebrate with friends and family so there are many here now and tonight we will have a big part. For sure I also want to win in next weekend In Italy. It’s the last race of the season and there will be a lot of Italian fans there.”
Max Nagl - 2nd: “I am happy to be second on the podium and I had very good starts this weekend. The first race was not easy but I was able to control it and managed to win and make up some points on David Philippaerts. I made a couple of small mistakes in the second turn in race two and some riders went past me but I managed to finish overall fourth and David was behind so I got some more points. Now I will go to Italy and try hard to finish in third place in the championship. It won’t be easy because the Italian riders are always very fast at home but I will do my best.”
Steve Ramon - 3rd: "It was a hard weekend with a really tough track. The first moto was a struggle because I did not feel comfortable on the bike but I had a better rhythm in the second race until I crashed in the waves section around the back which interrupted things! I had to restart the bike and find my way back into the moto. Anyway, I am happy to be back on the podium because the last couple of weeks have been tricky with my leg."
David Philippaerts - 5th: “I wanted better from today but I crashed three times across the two motos, one in the first and twice in the second, and that cost me some time. Apart from the small mistakes I was riding well and the times were good on a track that was very heavy. I took some points away from Desalle but Nagl managed to come close to me. It will be a tight fight but the next race is in Italy where I want a good result and stay at the top. We fly to Italy tonight and will ride once this week before going to Fermo.”
Tanel Leok - 6th: “I feel pretty good about today but I made a mistake and crashed in the second moto so that was a bit disappointing. The first moto wasn’t too bad. I started well and had a decent rhythm to take fourth. The track always gets so rough here so it is never an easy GP. The jumps take-offs and landings were particularly tricky to deal with.”
Davide Guarneri - 8th: “Two top ten results; pretty good. The track was deep, heavy and very rough. There were many square bumps mixed with long ones and big ruts so it was really difficult. At the end it was about trying to stay on the bike and not make a big mistake. I was happy with the second moto because I did not get as tired as I expected. I lost some points to Goncalves but he is always strong here. I am a bit closer to Bobryshev and next we have Fermo. If it does not rain in Italy and I can get a good start then it will be a good race for me.”
Clement Desalle - 9th: "It was a crazy weekend. The first two sessions were good but I had a big crash in the qualification heat. There is a double around the back and I wanted to do it but I caught my footpeg in the sand on the inside line and the front of the bike dipped, putting me straight into the ground. I don't know how I damaged my mouth. I think I must have gritted my teeth. I was lucky that my dentist is a fan of motocross and was here and I must thank him a lot because not many people would work as late as he did; I did not get to bed until 1.30. I didn't feel so bad in the morning. I knew I had to start well from a bad gate position but I had another bad crash on the first corner when someone touched my rear wheel. I tried to come back and managed 10th. In the second moto I was 15th on the first lap when the bike spun around and I couldn't catch it. I started last again. The sand tracks have not been good for me this year! I think I will sleep for three days now."
Jonathan Barragan - 11th: “Lierop has always been a difficult track, and when you are not perfectly prepared physically it can be dangerous. I have steadily improved my physical condition since I returned from my injury, but it’s only last week that the doctor has given me permission to start training harder so I didn’t want to take any risks here. In the second race I tried to push at the beginning of the race and I was able to push forward to sixth, but then I started to get tired and had to be satisfied with eleventh place at the finish. I’m getting closer to the top ten again and that will be my goal next week in Fermo; maybe it will be easier for me on a hard track but the most important thing is to prepare for 2011 in the best conditions.”
Sébastien Pourcel - 15th: “I had my best result of the year at last weekend's Belgian championship race where I took pole position and won one moto to finish second overall, but I always knew that Lierop would be more difficult. Saturday was OK with a seventh place in the qualifying race, but I didn't get a good start in the first race and was back in sixteenth position. Then I got green fencing in the rear wheel and had to stop. The second moto was better with a twelfth placed finish, but I should be doing better and I hope for better fortune in Italy next week for my last Grand Prix with the team.”
Xavier Boog - 16th: “Since my crash at Lommel I’ve not been able to train so much in the sand, and my weekend got off to a bad start when I crashed twice in the early laps of the qualifying race. The second crash left me a lap down but I was quite confident for race day as I was able to follow the leader Nagl. I found some good lines on the opening lap of the first race but I was not riding smoothly and could only finish thirteenth. I got a better start in the second race and was eleventh on lap one, but I had a big crash and had to pull out with some pain in my leg. I plan to go to the final round more relaxed, and it will be my aim to have fun on the bike. Everything worked perfectly during the first ten GP’s, but since Sweden I have been looking for a podium result and that's not the best approach.” | | Marvin Musquin |

Gautier Paulin - 1st: “My goal, as always, was to win and I had spent a lot of time on sand tracks this year - I think around three months in Belgium - and the work paid off. I am really happy to have won this race, especially being in the sand and me being a Frenchman from the south! I came close to Ken in the first moto but then he had the problem. I would have preferred to have had the fight with him but this is part of the sport. My start was not so good in the second race and I was third for a long time until I was able to reach Marvin on the last lap. We had a nice battle and I really wish I could have overtaken him at the line! Last year it was difficult for me in the sand, I think I barely scored and then had a DNF, and now I have a win so that’s fantastic.”
Marvin Musquin - 2nd: “Two titles in two years, that’s really great for me, also for KTM and Red Bull. It was a great season and I rode well all year, although this wasn’t so easy in the last GPs. The bike has been fantastic and now I go to Italy for the final round and of course I also want to win there.”
Harri Kullas - 5th: “Yesterday we had problems but everybody worked really hard and things went much better today, the bike was awesome and I got good starts. I had a good battle with Tonus at the end of the first moto for sixth but he was just a bit stronger. I was really happy with my first holeshot in the second moto and it felt great to lead, if only for a little bit! Roczen, Musquin and Paulin passed me but they were so strong and fast so I let them go and focussed on my own race and speed to take fifth. To be fifth overall means this is my best GP. It was hard but really enjoyable and I have to thank my mechanic and the team who did a good job yesterday.”
Arnaud Tonus - 6th: "It has been a good day for me; normally I am not a sand rider! I had two good races and a great start in the first one but then couldn't find my rhythm and was tight on the bike. I did not crash but my speed was not that great; still sixth was a half decent result. I went down at the beginning of the second moto in a big crash when I hit Karro's bike after he had fallen right in front of me. I pushed really hard after that with a strong rhythm and to reach eighth was good."
Ken Roczen - 7th: "This could have been another GP win but we had a problem with the chain in the first race and it meant another DNF. The second moto went really well and I was riding smoothly until I had a bit of arm-pump but I still had some energy in reserve. I felt fresh and it was positive to take something away. We go to Fermo now and can only hope for better."
Zach Osborne - 8th: “The first race was not brilliant but at least I got some points. In the second race I put in a solid charge and I think that was the benefit of the recent fitness work I have been doing and the effort to get back on form after the recent concussion. I’m pretty happy with the second race and have good momentum going into Fermo. I think I can be up there going for the podium again next week. Like a lot of people I have never been to Fermo but I seem to pick up new tracks pretty fast, we’ll see. I really want to get that fourth place in the championship.”
Steven Frossard - 13th: “I had a great start in the qualifying race on Saturday, and led the race for a few laps until my forearm muscles pumped up and I couldn’t keep the rhythm. I managed to hold on to finish fourth which gave me a good gate pick for race day and I again got two good starts. I was eighth at first but soon advanced to fifth before I got stuck behind Simpson. The track was pretty dangerous as there were deep ruts before the jumps, and I never found a way to pass Simpson even though I was close to him. Fifth position was a good basis for the overall and again I had a good start in the second race but somebody hit my rear wheel going into the first corner and that cost me time. I didn’t crash there but later in the opening lap I did, and that left me way down in 23rd position; I recovered to thirteenth but my pipe had been damaged in the collision at the start and I was losing more and more power so I had to retire.”
Jeremy Van Horebeek - 17th: “I came back sick from Brazil, just like many other people, and this weekend has been terrible for me. Maybe it would have been better to stay home, but I so wanted to race here in Lierop as it’s like a home GP for me. Saturday was not so bad with a fifth place, and in the first moto I fought through to eighth before I crashed. But the second race was tough; I was so tired but I kept going to take a thirteenth place. I’m disappointed as I lost several positions in the standings, but I hope that I will be in good shape for the final GP in Fermo next week and then for the Motocross of Nations in the USA where I will be a member of the Belgian team.” | | Ken Roczen |
